Washington, D.C. (June 15, 2026) — Today, A New Policy PAC announces its endorsement of Melat Kiros for U.S. Congress in Colorado’s 1st Congressional District. This endorsement highlights our commitment to supporting leaders who have the courage to challenge the status quo and demand a U.S. foreign policy that reflects American values of justice, equality, and the rule of law. As the only candidate in the race who rejects corporate PAC funding, Melot will fight for all of her constituents.

The daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, Melat grew up watching her parents struggle to navigate a new country and pay bills while putting her father through pharmacy school. During those times, she witnessed the power of community. While in school, Melat worked to help pay for school and afford healthcare. Today, Melat is running because she believes that elected officials should be accountable to the people, not to wealthy donors or corporate lobbyists. She supports an arms embargo, and has called out the U.S’s. failure to recognize and prevent wars and their devastations. She knows that the U.S. needs to end the blank checks for endless war and reallocate that funding towards diplomacy abroad and housing, education, and healthcare here at home. Melat is not fighting to fix what’s broken, she is fighting to build something even better.
